Coming May 2016

This test was taken a little before I left for my trip to NYC. Ace and I were definitely both excited but way nervous.
We hadn't been planning or really expecting this to happen for us yet. We had no clue how far along we were or if my body was physically healed and ready. So yes we were excited, but still very nervous.

Our first doctors appointment was a few days before Thanksgiving and we found out we were much farther along then we had expected. We were thinking maybe 10 weeks MAX. At our first doctors appointment we were 14 weeks pregnant.

At our appointment the ultra sound was pretty emotional. It was so good to see the baby in there moving around, heart beating. Ace said he was pretty sure it looked like another boy. I feel way better than I did last pregnancy and itt definitely feels more similar to the boys pregnancies. Ace and I were honestly feeling so comfortable with the idea of a boy or a girl. We just really wanted a healthy pregnancy and baby.

I definitely have felt more sore with this pregnancy and more ready to be done. Maybe it is just that I'm older than I've been for any of the other pregnancies or because I had about 3 months in between pregnancies so I've been pregnant for a long time. Whatever the reason, I've been pretty ready to be done being pregnant. Can't wait to see this baby and just know that everything is ok.

We got back from Christmas break on the 21st of January and had our 23 week unltra sound appointment on the 25th. Turns out we will be having a baby GIRL! Ace and I were both pretty shocked because we were both feeling very confident that it was going to be a boy. The boys specifically requested a boy as well. But I think we are all coming around to the idea of having another lady in the house.

She's pretty lucky to have such great brothers. Can't wait for all of us to be together. Estimated due date is May 25, 2016

Christmas 2015--- Beach Trip--- Baby Emyline's Blessing

Christmas 2015 was spent in Florida again this year. It is so nice to be able to drive and not have to buy 4 plane tickets around the holidays.

Christmas Eve the boys get new pajamas every year and this year they were pretty sweet. Reid's stances these days are always looking a bit like a superhero stance....he's pretty cool.

Christmas morning!
The boys got these sweet pillow beds from my mom which actually were a huge blessing since these two sweet fellas spent the entire Christmas break (6 weeks) sleeping on the floor.

Christmas break in Florida just wouldn't be complete without at least one trip to the beach. This year the weather was pretty warm the first few weeks and then the last week or so got pretty cold (just preparing us to head back up north)

Reid is ready to destroy the castle. It blows my mind how long something can take to build and then how quickly it can be demolished.

It was the Beck family Christmas this year and it was a very special one. On December 15th, Garret turned 5 and sweet Emyline Kay Fasset was born. Shay was able to bless her the Sunday after our family Christmas party. I was SO SO GRATEFUL to be able to be in Colorado with my sweet family for the week and to be able to be at the blessing of Emy.

My sweet mom made 5 jean quilts for each of her kids and their families. I made one jean quilt and it took me forever....and it ended up looking pretty shabby. I can't imagine making 5 beautiful quilts. Im grateful for such an amazing women to call my mom.
I've got a great family!

Garret turns 5!

I've put off these birthday posts for too long, because I feel like I want them to be perfect. I want my boys to feel so loved and happy when they look back on these posts. But I have realized I just need to get them done. So here it goes: This one is for you, Garret.

Garret,

You are incredible! Seriously, the way your little mind works just blows me away. You are so curious about how the world works and what makes machines work. So many things I'm sure I didn't think about until much later in life, you have already started wondering. What is life like on Mars? Why is it called the Red Planet? What does every combination of color make? Are these animals poisonous? Are these creatures nocturnal? I feel silly saying "I don't know" all day, but it happens. Thank goodness for the internet, because I have been saved by searching the web for answers so many times. You aren't as interested in how people work. For the most part, mankind and their interactions with each other are just far less interesting to you. You are much more curious about the workings of lava and how long it would take you to dig underground before you find it. You love science, and I hope you always will.

Experimenting with food coloring with your buddy Josh. Turns out I am the worst at knowing what colors make what when you mix them. Luckily, we can experiment, and if we can't Dad always seems to know the answers... he's a pretty smart fella.

Speaking of Dad. You are a huge fan of him. Sometimes, I think that it should hurt my feelings, but then I think about it, and Dad is great. He is so kind, so patient and so, so loving. He loves being with you just as much as you love being with him. One day you told me "Mom, I don't want to make you sad." I asked you what you were talking about and you went on to explain, "I don't want to make you sad that I love Dad the most." Well buddy, I'm so so glad you love Dad. He is one of a kind and you will forever be blessed to have him in your life. So you keep loving Dad and spend all the time with him that you can.

Garret, you are so so creative. This is sometimes hard for me, because I really dislike crafts and the mess kind of drives me crazy. However, you are great at cleaning up after yourself and have showed me that crafts can be pretty useful. You made me a pen holder! You taped it next to my calendar so I could easily mark off the days. So helpful and thoughtful. You also came up with the family art wall. This big strip of brown paper came in a package and you came up with the idea to tape it on the wall and use it for drawing. Dad and I both love it and will keep it up until the day we move.

Pretty fancy accessories you made yourself!

You always seem to have paint, markers, mud, food coloring, and many other things all over your hands, clothes, body, etc. When I try to tell you to stop being messy and stay clean, you just tell me "But Mom, artist, get messy when they are creating." You definitely are always creating things. When Dad picked you up from preschool one day, you were showing him all the things you had created while at school. Your sweet preschool teacher came over and told Dad, "I'm going to be reading about that boy someday. He's going to be famous."

You are always climbing everywhere! We are seriously thinking about getting you into rock climbing because it seems like the climbing comes as naturally to you as breathing.

You had two birthday parties this year. The first was at the Sciencenter in Ithaca, before we left for Christmas break in Florida. It seemed like a perfect place to celebrate our curious science-loving kid. It was a great experience and a party that just fit your little personality so well.

Your second party was in Florida, with family on your birthday. You actually ended up with a fever that evening and feeling pretty crummy for about a week, so I was really glad we had celebrated you earlier in Ithaca with your friends.

Getting ready to watch The Good Dinosaur with G-ma, Reid, Dad and me on your birthday. Also, we found out that your cousin Emyline would be sharing your birthday with you. Pretty special.

Your cute ice cream snowman cake and getting help blowing out your candles from Reid.

Garret, you are our sweet, silly, clever, underwear-on-backwards, best five-year-old boy! Thank you for making our life so much fuller and brighter. You are one of my very best adventures.

First haircut at the barbershop

Love you so much, Gar-Bear!

Halloween 2015

Growing up, Halloween seemed to be a one day event. However, now I find that it stretches out for at least one entire week. Ace planned some Halloween activities with the boys while I was in NYC with Asia. This made for a fun weekend for the boys and Ace knews I wouldn't be too sad to miss out on a few of the Halloween festivities as long as I got pictures and a full report.
Halloween costumes round 1. Ace took the boys to the Ithaca Ward Trunk or Treat party as Curious George and No-Noggin.
Pumpkin carving and our painted minion pumpkin, Kevin.

Then when I got back from NYC I was too lazy have costumes that were bulky and had lots of accessories. Halloween costumes round 2.
Garret-Batman
Reid-Superhero Kid (Flash costume, Spider-Man shoes, Superman mask and cape)
I absolutely LOVE Reid's stance!

Our favorite thing last year and this year---
a visit from some Ithaca firefighters in their fire engine. So fun!

We wasted no time changing holidays. The very next day we put up our Grateful Tree for the month of November. Something I hope will become a permanent tradition in our family.

Stryker Family Pictures 2015

Sweet Melody took our pictures this year. We stole her from her husband, her two little fellas and then gave her nothing in return for her time and talent. She definitely got the short end of the deal. We are lucky to have her in our lives and to be able to take advantage of a few of her talents (cooking, photography, trip planning, all out fun to be around, etc)

These were just a few of my favorites from our October 2015 Stryker Family Photos
My boys are just so handsome! So grateful they are MINE!
(If you look closely you can see that Reid is holding a Hulk action figure. So so typical of sweet Mr. Reid)

The clouds rolled in and made lots of shadows but I like the idea of this one

LOVE
THESE
BOYS

The best we could do for colored leaves. Fall just stretched out clear past October and then all of a sudden, the leaves were gone.

Cornell campus and Ithaca are super pretty, and my handsome man is very kissable.
Life's good!
