The Terminal

The above picture makes it look like Garret was spending a day in the wonderful world of Disney. But alas, he was not. This picture was taken in the Orlando Airport where we lived for 2 FULL days.

Tuesday March 26 we were suppose to fly back from Florida where we had spent a wonderful week with family and where we were able to see my friend, my old roommate, Ace's sister and my dear friend marry a wonderful man in the Orlando Temple for time and all eternity. It really was a wonderful trip but when we missed our flight that Tuesday it led us to a series of unfortunate events.
1. Missing our flight made it so we couldn't fly back into Durango until Thursday
2. Missing our flight was stressful for not only our little family but for parents and siblings on both sides.
3. Missing our flight made it so that when our dogs escaped while we were gone we  were unable to go look for them. When they were found they ended up costing a pretty penny to get them removed from the humane society.
4.Missing our flight was EXPENSIVE for our little family and for our parents who lovingly helped share the financial burden.
5.Missing our flight made a WONDERFUL trip feel so far away. We definitely got home feeling like we needed a vacation.

The list could go on and on but really there were quite a few blessing as well. For example, this particular airport had a hotel in it. We were able to stay right in the airport and were able to sleep in beds instead of on the hard airport floor or chairs. And this particular hotel in this particular airport had a swimming pool so we were better able to entertain Garret with something more then the moving walk-way and escalators. Our families were a great help and great support. We had phone calls, financial help and upon our return we received dinner and continued phone calls. We were definitely bummed about the missed flight but we were reminded that we are blessed beyond measure by loving family on both sides, and this gift is priceless.

  1. So glad to hear that despite setbacks, all worked out okay and that you four were able to stay safe and sound (and in a hotel). We missed you but are hoping to try again this summer! :)
